I enjoyed watching this video because it gives an honest account from the perspective of both parties. It also shows the importance of seeking to do the human thing over and above the legal thing.

This is a topic noone wants to talk about. I admire the doctor's honesty. I think despite what the hospital administration wants, we as doctors have to do what we feel is right-to care about our patients. I had an incident with dire consequences and was subsequently sued, whereas the surgeon with little contact, was not. Despite that, I would do it the same way again. Honest communication is the only way to feel good about what we do. Complications are a part of medical practice-more guidance and support needs to be given to new Residents entering practice.
