Description: Authored case report. 71-year-old male with severe AS and with low-to-intermediate open
surgical risk, who received TAVR rather than surgical AVR. He developed several complications, and 4 years
later underwent surgical AVR regardless. Case illustrates difficulty in individualizing therapy between TAVR
and surgical AVR for low-to-intermediate surgical risk patients. (Pending acceptance to Society of
Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists 2020 Annual Meeting.)

Americans). Statistically analyzed predictive value of rs45455403 genotype for risk of developing Alzheimer’s
disease (increased risk).
