Full Description: |
Anesthesia Specialists of Bethlehem (ASB) is the region’s premier long-term stable private anesthesia practice with a thriving 30+ year history of providing world class care. We are a 63 physician, 105 CRNA private practice group looking to hire a full time, partnership track physician due to rapid growth within St. Luke’s University Health Network. This position is available to newly graduating residents and fellows. We are looking for generalists with strong regional skills to meet our needs for increasing coverage and services. Graduates with fellowships will receive strong consideration.
St. Luke’s University Health Network has grown quickly over the past 10 years, with 3 new campuses built in the last 3 years and we are growing to meet these needs. ASB covers ten inpatient campuses and three ambulatory surgery centers. Our primary inpatient facility, St. Luke's Bethlehem campus is a Level One Trauma Center. The St. Luke’s Anderson campus is a Level Two Trauma Center and houses the newly built Mother and Baby Pavilion which performs 3500 deliveries per year. We have a dedicated team of fellowship trained CT anesthesiologists who provide cardiac care. We have a fellowship trained pediatric team that takes care of challenging peds cases however everyone has the opportunity to take part in “bread and butter” cases. Our critical care team of intensivists provides ICU care at the majority of our sites. In addition, we perform anesthesia for orthopedics, thoracic, neurosurgery, IR, urology, GYN, ENT, vascular, and general surgery.
ASB is thoroughly committed to the Perioperative Surgical Home model. We run the acute pain service, a surgical optimization clinic, and are well entrenched in ERAS protocols for nearly all of our specialties. Our network emphasizes physician leadership and our Chair of Anesthesia is now the Senior Vice President to whom all other medical departments report. One of our anesthesiologists is the Vice President of Medical Affairs at one of our campuses and we also hold leadership positions for several sub-specialties including clinical research.
First and second call are required and averages 4 calls per month. First call is overnight once every 14 days. On weekdays first call starts at 3-4 pm and ends at 7 am and on weekends first call is 24 hours, from 7 am-7 am. Second call is also once every 14 days. Second call starts with a regular workday and ends when most of the OR cases are done and can be signed out to the first call person, typically 7pm. The second call goes home and acts as backup to come back in for emergencies in very rare circumstances. There is a post call day off after both first and second calls. We also have voluntary calls at our smaller campuses for additional compensation. There are CRNAs on call at all campuses.
Our total compensation package averages around $550k/year broken down as: $437,750 base salary, $45k for voluntary calls, $66k employer funded 401k contribution, $3k for CME, and a $1650 employer funded HRA account. We offer a $50,000 sign on bonus as well as $10,000 relocation payment. All licensing and board fees are reimbursed as well. We also provide a $500/month for car expenses for those who travel between our multiple, smaller campuses and $80/month for cellphone expenses. 8 weeks paid vacation and 5 paid sick days are granted per year. Partnership is voted on at 18 months and granted at the completion of two years employment. A partner is required to buy one share of stock in the practice, costing $2,500 (buy-in).
